the Crescent Theatre, an Awesome Local Highlight

At the core of the downtown historic city of Mobile, Alabama, beautifully and strategically located at number 208 Dauphin Street is the renowned Crescent Theater. The theater which at its inception was originally opened in 1885 as a Vaudeville and Burlesque Shows Theater to the public, and later on switched in 1912 to a movie theater. It is the first theater in Mobile to show silent pictures.

The building was formerly used in 2006 as a restaurant until a fire outbreak that started and escalated from a neighboring bar called the “Monsoons” caused damages to the building, it was rebuilt in 2008, by owner Max Morey.

The Crescent Theater encompasses a seating capacity of over ninety people. Interestingly this theater has a distinct feature of screening art house movies or films that are hardly shown or displayed at other theaters of the same standard in or around the mobile city.
