Dauphin Street, a cultural landmark

Dauphin Street is a very nice picturesque street in downtown Mobile, Alabama, US. This is one of those streets that is full of life with plenty going on. It was once called Dauphin Way but is now known as Dauphin Street. The street Dauphin Street is between Conception Street and Joachim Street. Experiencing the street from end to end is enough to come away with good memories of an entertaining place with friendly and welcoming people. There are a lot of stores, candy shops, bars, restaurants (including a seventy-five-year-old restaurant), dress shops, nut shops, parks, galleries, and some live music. A popular park in the Lower Dauphin Street Historic District (or LoDa, the entertainment district) is the Bienville Square park which is named after Jean-Baptiste Le Monye, Sieur de Bienville, who is Mobile’s founder. The park is a popular setting for picnics, concerts, and festivals with the park featuring a canopy of oak trees in, the wrought-iron fountain at the center with benches and bistro tables. On Dauphin street is also the LoDa Bier Garten (Beer garden in English) over one hundred beers on tap and German-style pretzels made in-house.
